London, England
On New Year’s Eve, there were many food trucks and stands open along the banks of the River Thames. I was intrigued by a place called “The Duck Shed.” I’m a huge fan of trying out foods that are a little bit different than what I can readily find at home. Duck seemed like a good option, so I opted for “The British Christmas Quacker” in a wrap.

My wrap was not the first time that I’ve eaten duck, and I didn’t know any better; I would have said duck tastes a lot like pork. Granted, the wrap that I had featured bacon and pig-in stuffing, so it is understandable if someone made that comparison. Duck to me tastes similar to dark chicken meat. It has a great flavor, though it’s a little fatty to eat too often.

The wrap was extremely filling as I found myself not really wanting anything else to eat for the rest of the evening. If duck is not your preference, London is a city that has a rich tapestry of street food. Feel free to try something new; one of the greatest bits of travel advice I’ve received over the years is to be willing to try street food wherever you go in the world. The duck was different and memorable, which are two of the greatest advantages of travel: trying new things and creating memories.
