“Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.” Leonardo da Vinci, arguably one of the greatest artists of all time, spoke truth to the fact that great inspiration and great perspiration must work together to create the masterpieces that we come to love and enjoy. I have been fortunate to see many famous pieces of art in person and I hope to continue to come across famous artworks in my travels. Michelangelo’s David embodies the Renaissance, and Florence, the statue’s home, fostered a movement that encouraged art to flourish. Seeing David in person is the best way to appreciate what Michelangelo achieved with a single block of marble. Alexander Calder
