London, England
London is a city of many iconic locations, but Tower Bridge might be one of the most recognizable. In my trips to London, I’ve walked across this bridge, driven across the bridge, taken a bus across the bridge, taken a boat under the bridge, and even seen the drawbridge raised.

Tower Bridge gets its name not from its iconic towers but from its location beside the Tower of London. The towers on the bridge were designed to blend in with the Tower of London and the surrounding area.

It is possible to tour Tower Bridge, but the first day we tried to visit, we did not have reservations. You should not try to go anywhere in London over Christmas without a reservation. Just walking across the bridge was shoulder-to-shoulder with other pedestrians.
Adrienne, Henry, and Simon managed to get a reservation for a few days later, while Wyatt and I went to the Tower of London. According to Adrienne, it was cool to go inside the bridge, including the Tower Bridge Cat Trail, to see the historical engines that raised and lowered the bridge, and to walk across the upper-level connection between the two towers.

The bridge is a key connection in London, connecting the North and South sides of the city across the River Thames. Tower Bridge to me has always been my unofficial link to London as well. Adrienne and I purchased some artwork on our honeymoon that featured the Tower Bridge that hangs in our home today. On our second trip to London, our hotel was very close to the bridge, so we crossed multiple times during our visit, including me driving across because I missed my turn for the car rental location. Tower Bridge is one of the world’s great bridges, and pictures or videos of the bridge remind me of my trips to this great city.
